Rabbit Rabbit

Friday, March 1, 2013

Good morning, Happy Friday, and Hello March!
I can't believe how fast February flew by! March is here, and it's going to be a crazy busy month.

February was a short, but very productive month. I managed to get a TON of cleaning and organizing done around the house - especially in my office. I've made lots of headway with the upcoming design shop, as well as getting a lot more exposure of my other shop, Byte Size Treasure. It's all very exciting. I was also pretty crafty - but that has to do with my office being organized and inspiring me to actually do stuff.

Hippity-Hop Lamp // Love Bunnies Ring Holder // Rabbit Gold Plated Wax Seal Stamp // Bunny Rabbit Earring

I got a facebook message on the way to work this morning from my mother that just said "Rabbit Rabbit." I love my mother! We just don't get along well when we're in the same state, but this whole thing is absolutely adorable. When I was a kid, there was something on Nickelodeon that told of the superstition where if you say "rabbit rabbit" or "rabbit rabbit rabbit" or "white rabbit" (and some other variations) as soon as you wake on the 1st of a month, you'd have either good luck all month or receive a present by the end of the month. This is probably the ONLY tradition my mother and I share. It makes me giggle that she still does it, and I apparently had never told Gadget about it. I'm sure he judges us both now.

SPEAKING of Gadget, our 3rd wedding anniversary is tomorrow! THREE YEARS. Insanity. Hopefully, he'll take me somewhere nice and we can have a nice, romantic day tomorrow. >hint hint<

How was your February? Are you looking forward to March? Anyone have big plans in the near future?

Friday Favorites : Snow

Friday, February 8, 2013

I'm going to stop Friday Favorites for a while, so I can focus on the rest of the blog. What better way to end it (for a while) than to post some photos of Snow that haven't made it to the blog yet? There were a number of months there in the end of last year where I wasn't posting much - which is sad, cause a lot happened. And there are a lot of great photos of Snow.

The first 5 photos here are from a trip to Grandma's in early September. It's a 2 hour drive there, and there is a McDonalds right before the bay-bridge (which happens to be halfway to grandmas), so we stop there so we can all use the restroom, get a bite to eat if we haven't eaten, and stretch our legs. We park way in the back where the 18 wheelers park, and just let Snow walk around. It's usually pretty empty back there and he won't leave our sides... well, Gadget's side. The last two... you'll find out more about those in a second.

1 - Snow in the car // 2 - Snow sitting pretty while daddy takes a picture // 3 - Relaxing in the middle of the parking lot // 4 - Excited to see me when I came back from getting drinks // 5 - Sitting on Gadget's foot  //  6 + 7 - Relaxing after the tire run

Now these photos are from our "tire run." Every one in a while, we chain this tire to his leash and make Snow run up and down the sidewalk by our townhouse a bunch of times. I know a lot of people have misconceptions about pits and whatnot, so I was really nervous that people were thinking we were trying to beef him up for fighting. Not happening. He's just got SOOO much energy, and this is a fantastic way to burn it off.

These are more outtakes than anything, cause his running faces are absolutely hilarious. Numbers 4, 5, 7, 9, and 10 are my favorites. 10 just gets funnier and funner the more you look at it.

If you follow my Instagram or Vine (my username is rewynd), you can see that I love my silly little pup - and he's really popular too. My little camera ham! You can also search instagram for the tag #snowthepitbull - that's all him!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Friday Favorites : Turquoise

Friday, February 1, 2013

Friday is here! I've been on Etsy a lot this week, so I figured I'd share some of my favorite finds - but only those that are turquoise! Or, as my mother-in-law would say, "ter-quaz."

A // B // C // D // E // F // G // H // I // J // K // L // M

I love dinosaurs - so can I please have the Parasaurolophus head for the empty space above my fireplace (not in turquoise though, it wouldn't match anything in my house at all)? And when I saw that peacock statue, I fell in love. The reclaimed wood looks like something I can do myself - with colors and things that WOULD match my decor.

Etsy is becoming a new addiction for me...

Friday Favorites : Internet Findings

Friday, January 25, 2013

This week has been a very productive week - full of cleaning/organizing, design, exploration, movie-watching, and general laughing (at my crazy animals).

This past weekend, I spent most of the two days cleaning so I could get my personal computer set up again. I've barely touched the thing since we moved last March... and randomly a few weeks ago, the graphics card burnt out. After getting that fixed by an awesome coworker - I just needed to be able to get into my room to get it all set up. Check!

I've tried a bunch of new food this week. I made a lasagna soup recipe (link included in today's favorites!), potato soup (which didn't go over well), a hodge-podge crockpot meal, and breakfast quesadillas. We also have a Mexican/Salvadoran/Honduran restaurant really close to our house that advertises that they sell Pho too - really? According to yelp, their Pho is good, so waking to a scratchy throat two days in a row - I decided I needed some soup and walked out in the cold (it was like 10 degrees that day) and got some delicious(!) Pho. It's dangerous to have good Pho so close to my house...

I watched a bunch of movies, caught up on shows on Hulu, enjoyed snow several days. I did some design work and drawing (ON PAPER) that I will share next week.

For now, on to the Friday Favorites!! This week, I'm sharing a bunch of random stuff that I found across the internets!

A // This girl is gorgeous. And I love her hair. I want to draw her.
B // This super clean office is so bright and airy!
C // Puppy in baby harness - at the Post Office!! If Snow wasn't so gigantic, I'd definitely do this to him. I've always thought of doing something similar to Shai.
D // This is definitely me right now... Crocheting like crazy.
F // Love this bathing suit. Need to tighten up some belly pudge first...
G // Spray painted baskets?! I will not be passing up anymore baskets from the thrift store again!
H // This collection of organized bits of life. Makes my OCD very happy.
I // Jurassic Park cosplay. Doesn't get any better than this!
J // Daleks in Rugrats?! My life will never be the same.
K // Lasagna Soup recipe. Delicious!
M // This lovely coat.

That's all for today! Have a great weekend!

Friday Favorites : Herb Gardens

Friday, January 18, 2013

Friday is here again, and this weekend is going to be busy. Gadget and I are going out on a "date" and we're resigning our lease tomorrow morning, since we reeeeally don't feel like moving again right now. With not having to worry about packing/moving/unpacking, I have time to start a herb garden. I wanted to do it last year when we moved in, but it was so hectic getting adjusted to the new place...

I did a bit of research through Pinterest, and I'm going to share the gardens that inspire me the most.

A // B // C // D // E

F // G // H // I // J // K // L // M

How amazing are some of these?  I don't have a lot of window sill area... But I'm leaning to a hanging garden because of the animals.  Actually... I think I know the perfect window to hand something in.  How cute are the tea cups and teapot gardens?  Don't know what I'm going to do yet, but I'm looking forward to making my own herb garden. I'll definitely do what works best in my space... so we'll see what happens.

Have a great weekend!

Friday Favorites: Fave iPhone Apps

Friday, January 11, 2013

Happy Friday everyone! I'm so glad the weekend is almost here - I actually have plans. >gasp<

To get back into the swing of things for blog posting this year, we're getting back to Friday Favorites, but since it's 2013, I'll be doing 13 favorite things every Friday.

This week has a theme - my favorite iPhone apps. Now, I got my new iPhone5 in October for our anniversary/my birthday present. I love love love my iPhone! I've had a Blackberry, but this is my first SMART phone. I've downloaded a ton of apps since, and I'm going to share the cream of the crop (of my personal favorites).

Click the jump for more information on each of the apps!

Favorites : Fairy Tale Art

Friday, June 1, 2012

Happy Friday! After Snow White on Wednesday, I thought - what better subject for a Friday Favorites than fairy tales? And this week, I'm going to share some artwork.

A series of minimalist fairy tale posters by Christian Jackson

Part of a Cruel Fairytales Calendar from Aleksandra Marchocka

3D pictures with paper toys and paper layers by Ngoc Thuy Do

A watercolor piece Natalia Pierandrei based on The Canary Prince folktale

Simone Massoni has created a series "12 Famous Fairy Tales in Pieces"

Aren't they wonderful? I wanted a nice mixture of different styles of art. But, that's all for today. Thanks for visiting, and have a great weekend.

We're going to the Eastern Shore this weekend, so expect some pictures bright and early next week.

Favorites : Ampersand

Friday, May 25, 2012

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6 // 7 // 8

Happy Friday! We have a 3 day weekend ahead - so Happy Early Memorial Day. I probably won't be going out much this weekend, I have a ton of artwork that needs to be finished within the next week. I promise some screenshots will come soon!

For now, enjoy some Ampersands. As a lover of all things art & design, I thought it was time to branch out from the fashiony stuff that I've been posting. It was actually kind of difficult to pick my favorite ampersands from across the world wide web.

And with that, I bid you all a good night, and have a wonderful weekend. Stay safe!

Glee is a guilty pleasure. I've always loved Celine Dion, and Lea Michelle's rendition of "It's All Coming Back to Me" was surprisingly very well done.

Favorites : Colorful Contraptions

Friday, May 11, 2012

Happy Friday! I can't believe it's Friday already! This week, I've decided to post some of the colorful contraptions that I've found around the internet that I absolutely love. If I could, I'd buy them all right now!

A // Mustard Headphones by Urban Outfitters, $60 - I. Want. I don't know how the sound is in them, but I would rock these bad boys on the bus!

B // Orange Retro Telephone "Sixty" by Sagemcom, $120 - I don't have a house phone anymore. But I'd still have it sitting around my office. You can never have too much orange!

C // Vintage 80s Red Table Lamp from AnnaLouVintage, $43 - Gotta love an adjustable lamp for an art desk. Surprisingly, I don't have one! >le gasp<

D // Apple iPod Nano in Pink, $50 and Lollipop MP3 Speaker, $20 - My iPhone3 (only used as an iPod) is starting to crap out on me. I bought it used from a coworker for Gadget to do game testing but it wouldn't work for that, so it became my iPod. I won't buy a Nano... I have too much music for that. But I love these little speakers. I definitely wouldn't get one in pink though... I'd get the orange one! (surprise, surprise)

E // Baby Grape Elephant Wall Mounted Clock from LeLuni, $52 - I love this clock. I saw it on etsy, and knew it needed to go into a Friday Favorites. There's also a Pirate Ship Clock (gasp, in Orange!) that I reeaally want. But I do love the elephant.

F // Disney Stitch Hard Case Cover for iPhone 4/4S from Amazon, $8 - I'm really about the buy this for my future iPhone4S. One of the MANY adorable iPhone cases out there. The ears even fold back to cover the screen as a protector.

G // Ice Cream Cone Kitchen Timer, $8 - My stove doesn't have a timer and I usually end up using the microwave... which is annoying if I have to use the microwave for something. I need a timer... why not an ice cream one? For $8, I don't think I can say no.

H // Plug Organizer, $8 - Definitely the weirdest item on this list. I think this is pretty cool though. For certain plugs in my house, I know that I don't always have everything plugged in at once... why drop the cord, when it can sit at the outlet and chill.

I hope you enjoyed this weeks Friday Favorites! Do you guys have any of these contraptions? What do you think of it?

Happy Friday! Have a great Weekend!

Favorites : May the 4th

Friday, May 4, 2012

That's right ladies and gents - not only is Rewynd an artist - but she's also a geek. Now, I'm not a giant Star Wars fan - far from it really. I've only seen each of the movies once. Honestly, I'm more of a Trekkie... or a Trekkie-in-Training. Gadget is a good teacher of that, and I have quite a number of friends that are too. But the number of friends that are Star Wars fans is enormous! So this is for them.

May the 4th Be With You! Find out more about this day here.

No, I don't personally dress my animals up - even though it can be pretty hilarious. But I live vicariously through the people of the interwebs and just surf through pictures. They make me smile. Don't they just make you smile!?

That's all for today's Friday Favorites. Thanks for visiting. I'll try not to show my geekie-ness too often.

Friday Favorites

Friday, April 27, 2012

Hey everybody! It's Friday again! It's been a crazy week... and today was a -very- long day at work, and I got home a lot later than usual. I've got a lot of catching up to do on some art pieces, still have a lot to do around the house, and this weekend is going to be a whirlwind. This week, I decided to just share some of my general favorites that I found from around the web. Enjoy!

A Sound of Thunder. This isn't my type of music in general, but I love their music!

After last week, how could I not post about "Iceberg" - the first mature white orca observed in the wild.

Favorites : Whales

Friday, April 20, 2012

It was only a matter of time before I posted some Orcas. And I couldn't wait any longer. Orcas / Killer Whales are my favorite. I've always loved them. I was 4 when I went to Sea World for the first time (sadly, that was the last time I've been there). From that moment on, all I wanted was to be a whale trainer.

And then 3 years later, Free Willy is released. How could I not fall in love with whales...and Keiko. Keiko was the whale that played Willy in the movie. So many years went by and he was constantly in the public eye - people were fighting for his freedom. I followed his story all my life. When he passed away in 2003, I wasdevastated- I felt like I had lost a friend.

I didn't follow my dream of being a whale trainer - which I'm still torn about. Every time I see an orca on tv, I feel like I should be there. But at the same time, I know how truly unnatural it is for them to be in these small tanks just for human amusement.

Don't they just make you smile!? I've been planning to saving up to go whale watching one year for my birthday. Won't happen this year. Maybe next year?

Happy Friday the 13th everyone!

My soon-to-be-step-brother's birthday is today.  He and his brother were both born on Friday the 13th - one in April, the other in August. Happy Birthday Bryan (he just had baby #2 the other day too)!

I normally don't have any bad luck - usually just the opposite.  I hope today follows suit with that.  I noticed when I started writing this post that I left my wedding ring at home.  I always take it off when I take a shower, and this morning I left it in the bathroom.  I feel naked without it - I'm constantly reaching over and touching it throughout the day.

A //     This great weather cracked numbers on a bright yellow wall.
B //     A great design poster series by Foreign Policy Design called 13 wives.
C //    This charm set
D //     An adorable Custom Lucky Number Paper Ring from Steph1000r's Etsy shop

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also, today's Fun Facts - all Friday the 13th related, of course:

1 // According to folklorists, there is no written evidence for a "Friday the 13th" superstition before the 19th century.

2 // The fear of Friday the 13th has been called friggatriskaidekaphobia, or paraskevidekatriaphobia.

3 // The longest period that can occur without a Friday the 13th is fourteen months.

4 // The 13th day of the month is slightly more likely to be a Friday than any other day of the week.

5 // The Dutch Centre for Insurance Statistics (CVS) on June 12, 2008, stated that "fewer accidents and reports of fire and theft occur when the 13th of the month falls on a Friday than on other Fridays, because people are preventatively more careful or just stay home.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What about you guys?  Do you believe Friday the 13th to be unlucky?

Thanks for visiting ya'll. Have a great weekend!

Favorites : Shows

Friday, April 6, 2012

Good morning - Friday is here!

This is only my 2nd Friday Favorites, but I want to keep a general theme going with these as I move forward into the future of this blog.  I was trying to think of a theme for the day and had some Hulu Plus playing in the background - then it hit me.  My queue is currently at 52 to watch - the highest it's ever been...  Why don't I share with you all my favorite shows that I'm watching now.

Favorites : Lottery

Friday, March 30, 2012

So the internet & local news is ablaze with talk of the $640 million lottery.  I've had conversations with Gadget, my family, and my coworkers - talking about what we'd do with the money.  And for my first Friday Favorites, I thought it would be good to show a couple of things that I'd like to do with lottery money should I ever win.

1 // Design and build my own house.
 A / link   B / link   C /  link   D / link

I've never lived in a house that my family has owned.  We've always rented - and since going to college and then being out on my own, I've always lived in apartments.  I want a nice big house, with plenty of space and LOTS of windows for natural light.  I also want a nice big yard for Snow and some other dogs that I'm sure we'd get.

You can see my 'Dream House' Pinterest board here.

Along with this, I'd also buy the house my grandparent's currently live in, gut it and rebuild the inside (cause it's got the silliest layout) - but they love their location and aren't gonna wanna move again. My mom also mentioned hiring a maid to come by weekly for them - an absolute must!  Grandma is a busy lady, she doesn't have time to clean and things - she's got 1,001 Facebook games to play.   I ♥ my grandparents.  I want to make sure they're taken care of.

2 // Buy a car - just for me.
 A / Toyota Matrix   B / Camaro Convertible   C / Mazda 3    D / Vespa S 150

I got my first car at 18.  It was a red 1990 Volkswagen Cabriolet with a black top.  I love small cars, and I love convertibles.  I also really like hatchbacks.  Gadget and I have had two cars together, but only ever one at a time - which makes our tough commutes even harder.  I've always dreamed of owning a Lamborghini, but no matter how much money I have, I'll never get one.  I don't want to worry about the upkeep on a car like that.  I like the new convertible Camaro (that blue one is gorgeous).  And of course, as I said before, I love hatchbacks - the Toyota Matrix and Mazda 3 being my favorites.  I also wouldn't mind having a scooter (HAS to be orange).  That would be awesome.

3 // Build an art studio space for Rewynd Studio

A / link   B / link   C / link   D / (can't find it again) E / link   F / link

Gadget and I discussed building a art & game company.   I would love to have art space just for Rewynd Studio, but if I'd have to share that would be fine too.  I envision this huge open space with tons of high windows and a loft area for the head-honcho (me & gadget)'s office area.  If it was only for me, the open space would be divided up a bit - an area for crafting, and area for drawing/painting, a computer area, and an area for a screen-printing machine.  Also, some open space for spray painting furniture for my future DIYs.  But I see it all in black and white, and having our artwork and such being the source of color in the space.

You can see my Pinterest 'Dream Studio' board here

4 // Rescue some Pit Bulls.

A / link   B / link   C / link   D / link   E / link

After getting Snow and seeing the hassle it takes to keep a pit anywhere in this area, I would want to rescue a bunch of pits from the local shelters.  There are tons of puppies around here sitting in shelters, just waiting to be killed because it's nearly impossible for anymore to find an apartment that will allow them.  It's a shame.  When we got him, all I kept hearing from friends and family was that it's a bad idea because of the breed.  I've met more pits in the short time we've had Snow than I have in my whole life and every. single. one.  was a big sweetheart.  Snow is no exception.  I love that dog.  And I'd love for him to have a playmate (even if it's only to save poor Shai and Ivy from his constant wanting to play).

5 // Pay off Student Loans
Does this one really need an image?  I think not.  I'm in so much debt because of school - it's terrible.  I'll will definitely pay that crap off.

 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also, today's Fun Fact:

The little symbol above the 6 on your keyboard (^) is called a Caret.  It's predominately used in text editing as a text insertion indicator.  It comes from the Latin word 'caret' which means "it lacks."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What would you do if you won the lottery?
Would you spend it all on yourself, on family, or would you invest?
Tell me some of the things you'd do with $640 million in the comments.

Thanks for visiting ya'll. Have a great weekend!
