Date Day: Air & Space Museum and Star Trek!!

Tuesday, May 21, 2013

This past weekend, Gadget and I went out on a Day-Date. We KNEW we were seeing Star Trek - when and where were the only questions. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, we are Trekkies/Trekkers. He got me into Star Trek when we first started dating, and has had me watching it every since. We went and saw the 2009 Star Trek movie together (and then I went with a friend to see it again as my very first IMAX movie).

I knew this movie was going to be epic, and it's definitely one of those movies we were willing to pay a extra couple of dollars to see in IMAX. There is an 3D-IMAX theatre really close to our house, but I wanted this to be my first TRUE IMAX experience - you know, the SUPER GIANT screen?! The only one close to us is at the Air & Space Museum out in Dulles, VA - which isn't too far away (and apparently, it's the biggest projection screen in Virginia?).

We made a day of it - we got to the museum early, grabbed our tickets and walked around until the movie started. After the movie, we went to Boston Market and headed home. (It was my first Boston Market experience too!)

I won't give any spoilers, but it was EPIC... we loved it, and we're definitely going back next weekend to see it in 3D IMAX.

Here are some shots from the day - half of these are from my iPhone, the other half are from Gadget and the Canon.

Anyone seen Star Trek Into Darkness yet? What did you think?

2013 Movies I Want to See!

Tuesday, February 12, 2013

2013 is going to be a BIG year. Lots of big movies - many of which Gadget and I are really excited to see. In case it wasn't painfully aware, he and I are both artists and huge "geeks." We're both really big into special effects and big budget movies. They may not the the best movies, but if a lot of concept work and 3D went into it - we're gonna watch it, buy it on Bluray, and probably buy the art book. That's just who we are.
We're also basically children (especially me) and love to give animated movies a chance. Not thinking that they're be overly great, but more for aesthetic and visual reasons.

In terms of movies, there a lot of movies that I want to see this year, and some that I MIGHT see/might not.

My list of 13 movies I want to see in 2013 is:
(in order of "HOLY CRAP I NEED TO SEE THIS MOVIE RIGHT NOW" to "I'd Pay to go see it in theatres")

Star Trek: Into Darkness // Iron Man 3 // Epic // Frozen // Pacific Rim // Oblivion
Monsters University // The Heat // Identity Theif // The Hobbit // Man of Steel // After Earth // The Croods

I also wanted to include Gadget on this, but his list is pretty darn close to mine. Only additions would be A Good Day to Die Hard, Fast and the Furious 6, World War Z, Thor 2, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Oz: The Great and Powerful, and The Grandmaster.

I'm sure there are other kung-fu movies besides The Grandmaster coming out this year that he's going to want to see.

Other movies coming out this year that didn't make our cut, but we're going keep our eyes on include: Riddick, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Upside Down, Turbo, Beautiful Creatures, and Escape from Planet Earth.

Sickly = Movie Day!

Monday, June 11, 2012

I've had a scratchy throat for a couple days and drank some Theraflu yesterday after coming home from lunch - I went to DIM SUM with some friends.

After the first time I passed out, I realized that it was nighttime Theraflu... but that didn't stop me from taking more. I was going to clean my house yesterday, but I felt like crap. I just stayed on the couch, drank more Theraflu, ate spoonfuls of honey and watched lots of movies.

Movies Watched - Personal Rating (Out of 5)
Bad Teacher - 2/5
Battle Los Angeles - 3/5
Kung Fu Panda 2 - 4/5
Horrible Bosses - 5/5
X Men First Class - 5/5
Winnie the Pooh - 3/5

I had already seen X Men before... but I really do love that movie.

Review of Snow White & The Huntsman

Thursday, May 31, 2012

As I mentioned last night, I got free movie passes to see Snow White & The Huntsman before it comes out tomorrow. I thought I would share my thoughts on the movie here - I promise, I'll keep it short.

Also, there may be SPOILERS ahead...

The Avengers was Awesome

Wednesday, May 16, 2012

Gadget and I went finally got to see The Avengers! We went to a late showing of it in IMAX 3D last night - since it's probably going to be the last week it will be available. The movie started at 10:30PM and ended at 1:00AM - we wake up between 4:30 and 5:00AM every morning. Anyway... on to my "review."
